We would love to recruit a local resident who is keen to join an exciting business working in one of the UKs fastest growing agriculture sectors. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, has a desire for continued improvement, with a stellar work ethic, enjoys the outdoors and is up for having a good time whilst working in a vibrant forward thinking workplace. An interest in sustainable, organic/biodynamic or regenerative farming practises would be cool but not entirely necessary. You would be heavily involved in all vineyard activities and be keen to enrol through the Plumpton College Advanced Level Apprentice - L3 Crop Technician (Viticulture) scheme - which lasts around 2 years and requires 5 residential training blocks per year, each of which will last one week.
In conjunction with the Plumpton course the successful candidate will be working alongside Sandridge Barton’s viticulturists/winemaking team and trained in the following:
Viticulture - Winter pruning, trellis maintenance, canopy management, crop spraying, vine trimming, fruit analysis, bio diversity analysis and harvesting.
Winery - Although the apprenticeship is in viticulture, the successful candidate will also undertake duties in the winery including, grape processing, racking, cleaning, disgorging, bottling, labelling, packaging and deliveries.
This will be a three year commitment with enrolment at Plumpton College, East Sussex happening in March 2022 (potentially September 2021). Prior to that the successful candidate will work within the company and learn the ropes, get to meet the team and work the 2021 harvest in the winery. Throughout our businesses we have had many successful employees who have learned and developed from the experienced personnel that work at both sites and have gone on to either progress within the company or moved elsewhere within the English wine scene. Hoping to offer this opportunity to someone who is keen to join our fun, exciting, knowledgeable team and get fully involved in an exciting industry. Hoping to keep it local so we can give back to our local community.
